Every year the snow starts to melt, temperatures warm up and the feeling of spring is in the air. For most of us, when this changing of the seasons starts to happen we get excited for what’s to come. These are the first signs of spring and it means something else too…people will be buying homes more often as part of the ‘spring market’.

Here’s 4 reasons why it’s a GREAT time to buy in the Spring:

  1. More inventory to choose from: During the winter months it’s not appealing to go outside. People who are thinking of selling their home know this and that’s why they wait until the spring to list their home. There’s no sense having a home for sale and not having people come through it. In the spring, we see more homes come available, which means for buyers you’ll have more selection to choose from.
  2. Motivated sellers: It’s likely the people who are selling in the spring, have been thinking about it for quite some time (see point #1). This being the case, the idea started months ago and by the time spring rolls around they’re ready and waiting to see an offer and make a deal. Knowing this can provide buyers with an advantage going into the negotiations.
  3. Sellers may have done renos during winter: in preparation to list their house, it’s possible that the sellers spent the winter months doing renovations to make their house even more appealing. This will be to your benefit as a buyer because you’ll be walking into new appliances, materials and maybe even some new spaces or additions to the home that haven’t really been lived in.
  4. Warmer weather means it’s easier to get around: Nobody likes driving around in the cold, walking in snow and when it’s dark at 5pm sometimes it’s easier to just get home and stay home. That’s not the case in the spring as we get longer days, warmer temperatures and the snow starts to melt. All of this means it’s easier to get out and about to find the house you want to call your home.
